Day40: To think too long about doing a thing often becomes its undoing. ~ Eva Young

Sunday, 25th Nov 2012; 10:15pm
Electronic City, Bangalore

I started the day with a morning walk, enjoyed the hot tea in the cool breezy morning of Bangalore. Cooked, Slept (in the afternoon), Read (The Now Habit(TNH)), Watched (Some TV programs on youtube), ironed clothes (for tomorrow), and of course called home, and that is how I spent this Sunday which has few more minutes to become history.

As I read through the pages of TNH, I feel as if Dr. Neil Fiore has written the book thinking of me, as if it is my story, of my anxiety, of me being overwhelmed with work and not delivering quality, of me struggling to manage time and self.Yes, this book is a must read for every procrastinator. I am so thankful to Mr. Fiore for his genius research and bringing out all useful information to get rid of this intellectual disease which causes blocks to action, Yes I am referring to 'Procrastination'.

Penning down some of the marvelous lines from TNH, I came across today:

"If you are working on a long term project, you would need the strategy of a Marathoner and not a sprinter. If you are to maintain a long term productivity you will need to stick to your commitment to schedule guilt-free play and avoid any workaholic tendencies."                                                                        Dr. Neil Fiore

Good Night to all.

Day38: “Decision is a sharp knife that cuts clean and straight; indecision, a dull one that hacks and tears and leaves ragged edges behind it.”- Gordon Graham

Friday, 23rd Nov 2012; 11:30pm
Electronic City, Bangalore

It was an eventful day with series of events bringing in moments of in-decisiveness, anxiety, satisfaction, and a challenging opportunity ahead with few good lessons learnt. Today, I started the day by going to Gym (M70 - M2W5D15) sweating out some 300 Calories on the treadmill. While it was a normal business, I learnt a special lesson this morning at the work-out station. A guy was searching for his specs, he had left on one of the elliptical machines, I just helped him saying it is on the machine on the corner since I had worked-out on it moments ago, believe it or not, I was taken aback by his reply. Instead of saying Thank You, he said "I have eyes, I can see".  My goodness, I just tried to help a guy who was struggling to get his specs. While it might be an attitude problem with the (arrogant) guy, I learnt and recalled the lesson that 'Don't help others unless asked for' but there are exceptions always.

Further in the day, felt satisfied by imparting knowledge to the 2012 pass-out freshers for whom I was given the responsibility to train. It is good to see new people joining in work with lot of hopes, sparkle in their eyes, temperament to learn. I get inspired by them all. Thereafter I received a call from Anil, my practice manager who asked me to work on a new assignment quite challenging and bigger responsibility. I was in a state of in-decisiveness if I will be able to meet his expectations. I have to start working from the next week onwards and as per one of the Delivery Managers who called in the evening, he expects immediate deliverables. I assured him that I would do my best in the given time. Thankfully he did not interview me on some technical stuffs I was not sure about. I look forward to this responsibility.

Kiran, who had been insisting on me to join Amway under his business line, once again put me in state of in-decisiveness this evening showing his business gains and the benefits of attending seminars. After some thought, I replied him finally and affirmatively that I am not mentally prepared for this at this point of time with other aspects like time and money in mind. He said he respected my decision. Thanks Kiran.

Finally, my heartiest thanks to the express delivery service, Flipkart which delivered both my books I had ordered yesterday. So my next reading would be Mr Robin Sharma's 'The Leader who had no title' and 'Don't Lose your mind, lose your weight' by Rujuta Diwekar. Thanks again Flipkart.

Good Night to all.

Day37: "No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training… what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable." — Socrates

Finally, M-70 Day14 happened (Day Code: M2W5D14)*. Though was feeling lethargic and quite reluctant to move out in the morning, I went to meet my Weekly target of a minimum of 3 days a week. This means coming Friday and Saturday, I will be working out. Sometimes I find it so hard to push for the Gym, feel why sacrifice your comfort, sleep ( Bringing to you once again, the fact that I am quite lazy and a person who puts-off things easily, at least for past few years I have known myself that way). So what externally I should do to motivate myself going to Gym in the morning?? I put forward this question to Mr. Google and like always got something interesting. Presenting to you henceforth:

Step 1

Prepare your workout items before going to bed the night before your early morning exercise regimen. Get your water bottle ready and fill your gym bag with any specialized equipment you may need. Lay your exercise clothing out on top of your dresser so you can get dressed quickly and easily when you awaken.

Step 2

Find an object or item of clothing -- that represents your fitness and weight loss goals. Lay the chosen item out in a prominent place in your bedroom, positioning it so you'll see it when you wake up in the morning. Or Simply write your work-out goal somewhere on the wall which you get to see when you get up early in the morning.

Step 3

Program your alarm clock so that it awakens you with an inspirational message that helps focus you on your fitness goals. If your alarm clock doesn't have a record option, check your cell phone, since many models allow you to pre-record a message for use as an alarm. Highlight a weight loss or fitness goal in your alarm message or just include an inspirational quote from your favorite workout video or book.

Step 4

Go to bed early the night before your morning workout. Draw your curtains or blinds or don a sleep mask to help darken your bedroom. Rearrange your schedule to ensure that you get seven to eight hours of sleep each night; not only does this increase your chances of awakening chipper and cheerful for your morning workout, but it also keeps your body from producing excessive amounts of diet-busting ghrelin, an appetite-boosting hormone fueled by lack of sleep.

Day36: Better Late than Never!!

Wednesday, 21st Nov 2012;10:00pm
Electronic City, Bangalore

Better late than never. And justice prevailed. Kasab was hanged today for the deadly crime he had committed in Mumbai four years ago, taking lives of over 160 people. But does it mean the closure of the chapter. He was just a mechanised robot which LeT had sent for destruction on the Indian soil. The people behind the scenes operating from across the borders need to dealt with strongly.

In personal life, I took another day rest from M-70 with all high-calorie food through out the day :)

Good Night to all

Day35: “The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.” ― J.M. Barrie

Tuesday, 20th Nov 2012
Electronic City, Bangalore

There are few days when you are not into your element and you do not know the reason for it. Today was one such day in Life. I was feeling low and lack of confidence, fumbled in the presentation at the Corporate HRD training program today. Need some confidence today....

Day34: Death does not wait to see if things are done or not done. ~Kularnava

Mon/Tue; 19/20 Nov 2012; 1:45am
Electronic City, Bangalore

I surrendered to the shivering Cold this Monday morning and put-off my plan to go to Gym. Same will happen on Tue morning in few hours from now, so two consecutive days of rest in Week5 of M-70...

Okay, the takeaway from this precious day of Life is the crucial Life lessons I learnt in the Corporate HRD Training program I attended at office today. The training program was titled "Achieving Execution Excellence". While the Program was well designed, more interactive, involving and fun-filled. In the Outback exposition adventure game, our team performed poorly and was at the bottom of the score table. With the inputs given by Bijal, our facilitator in second half, I could analyze that the area I/we need to improve upon are (1) Proper Analysis Before Execution (2) Goal Clarity (3) Proper and Effective Strategy (4) Task Clarity. The more crucial thing he adverted is to have the Bigger picture in mind. Remember for you to succeed in Project and in Life, If you know the answer to 'WHY?' and 'WHO?, then WHAT? and HOW? would not be difficult to attain. Have a concrete, unique identity of you having that whole big picture always in your mind. Before this Yamini, the first half facilitator in the training was very effective with excellent communication and great accent.

It was the evening 'Arghya' day of ' Chhath Mahaparva' when a heartrending incident in Patna took away about 20 precious lives. My deepest condolences to the families of deceased. It is certainly an Ir-repairable loss and any Chhath or Diwali would be woeful and deplorable for the rest of their lives. May the innocent souls rest in peace.

Good Night/Good Morning to Everyone!!
