I, an Indian

I, an Indian.

A 21 year old girl shows her disagreements over 'the Bal Thackeray bandh' with her fb status reading "people like Thackeray are born and die daily and one should not observe a 'bandh' (city shutdown) for that," as per one of the police inspectors. As a result she is arrested by the Mumbai Police on charges of inciting hatredness, and hurting religious sentiments. Even the friend liking her status on the social networking site is not spared. Shiv Sainiks barge into Girl’s uncle’s orthopedic hospital and ransack it completely.

Is this the Democratic India, Bhagat Singh and many unsung heroes had gifted us with sacrificing away their Lives. Is this the Democratic India, Gandhi Jee and Mr. Lal Bahadur Shashtri had envisioned? Just for exercising the right to speech, an innocent girl is sent to gallows.  Is it not barbarianism? Is it not acute dictatorship?

Mentioning her statement by local administration “as hurting religious sentiments” is completely absurd and foolish. Moreover, is this the way to mourn the death of their deceased (so called GOD like) leader? In my opinion, the Girl had said nothing wrong and my full kudos to her for expressing views openly and strongly? There are thousands of heroes who give away their lives everyday quietly at borders fighting for our safety and pride of the nation. Sometimes no one is there to shed tears for these knights. And here is one person who had lived all his life, dies at 86 and then the Shiv-Sainiks (more apt word would be ‘Goondas’) display their loyalty by vandalizing places, terrorizing people and largely affecting the common man life.

The centre of my writing today is arrest of the two youths for exercising their fundamental right in no-non sense manner since reading the news on TOI invoked a rage of anger inside me. These anti-social elements should be thrown inside the gallows and strictest of the punishments should be given to the parties involved in the arrest, the complainant, the culprit police, and any higher authority involved. If the impotent Maharashtra and Central Govt cannot do this, then millions of we Indian would be ready to court arrest.

The impotency of the Central Government is largely revealed. They have always allowed these anti-social elements to thrive just to feed/boost their petty political mileage. Neither the Palm nor the Lotus party is worthy of ruling the Indian. I strongly feel the need of thousand of Kejriwals and Hazares for the betterment of nation.

“Genuine bravery for a writer.... It is about calmly speaking the truth when everyone else is silenced, when the truth cannot be expressed. It is about speaking out with a different voice, risking the wrath of the state and offending everyone, for the sake of the truth, and the writer’s conscience.”
